Coleman's Park and the Lauther Water Complex - Coleman Memorial Park is a picturesque 110-acre park located within the City of Lebanon. On April 20, 1936, the City of Lebanon accepted a "Deed of Gift" from George D.Coleman, grandson of the founder of Mt. Lebanon. George Coleman was the grandson of Robert H. Coleman (Cornwall Ore Mines). Robert and Dawson Coleman built the "North Lebanon Furnaces" in 1847 on the southern slopes of what is now Colemans Park. A few structures still remain from the Coleman legacy. George Coleman built "The Homestead" in 1853 for his wife Debra Brown Coleman. This mansion had 39 rooms, including 8 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms and a large playroom. George and Debra had 12 children who were gifted numerous acres for development of four other mansions. The Horace Brock mansion, built in 1978; the Arthur Brock mansion (where the tennis courts are now), built in 1882; the Bertram Dawson Coleman mansion, built in 1890; and the John Penn Brock mansion built in 1909. When "The Homestead" was demolished in 1961 a letter from President Abraham Lincoln to George Dawson, dated September 12, 1861, was found behind the false bookcase.
Today the tree shaded park hosts several recreational areas; a new water complex, pool, concession stand, snack bar, tennis courts, hiking trails, pavilions, miniature golf, Amphitheatre, baseball fields, childrens play areas and volleyball.
