ImageOriginally the home of Dr. William Henry Stoy and later the country’s first courthouse in 1813, today the Lebanon County Historical Society’s Stoy Museum houses thousands of artifacts native to the area. Located in downtown Lebanon, the museum is open for tours on a “drop-in” basis. However, it is requested that groups of ten or more schedule tours in advance.

Brendle Museum, and the very unique Gemberling-Rex House. The Gemberling-Rex House (c.1758) once served thirsty travelers and villagers as a tavern.

ImageThe Union Canal Tunnel Park includes 109 acres of meadows and woods surrounding the oldest transportation tunnel in the U.S. and 5/8 mile of watered canal. The Tunnel, a National Historic Landmark, was completed in 1827. Visitors can walk on the towpath once trodden by mules, picnic at the mouth of the tunnel or climb the marked trails through the wooded hill adjacent to the canal.

Fort Indiantown Gap PDF Print E-mail

ImageFort Indiantown Gap, located in northern Lebanon County, just off Exit 85B, I-81, is an expansive military post of 19,000 acres, home of the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Headquarters, Army and Air National Guard. The largest employer in Lebanon County, the fort is very busy, training more than 177,000 soldiers and airmen annually. The Fort is an open post and visitors are welcome to drive along the roads except for a few restricted areas.

Rails to Trails PDF Print E-mail

ImageConsiderable progress has been made on the Lebanon Valley rail trail, although there remains much work to do before the project is finished. The goal is to have one contiguous trail running through the county. Currently, the southern portion of the trail is open to hikers and bikers. Hop on the trail at the Route 419 access in Cornwall. Follow the path to Mt. Gretna and enjoy a tasty treat at the Jigger Shop before heading back. For information contact John Wengert at
